OUR EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The NORTH DAKOTA’s Executive Officer is Lieutenant Commader Jeremiah Minner.  Shortly after Commander Gordon was assigned as Commanding Officer and ETMC Tim Preabt was assigned as Chief of the Boat – COB – LCDR Minner was assigned.  He has a solid background in excellent submarine billets.

After growing up in Denver CO LCDR Jeremiah Minner graduated in 1999 from the Naval Academy with a degree in Computer Science.  Following nuclear training and Submarine Officer Basic School he was assigned to USS MICHIGAN (SSBN 727) on the Gold crew where he qualified as a submarine warfare officer.  In addition to several shore duty assignments he has served as Engineer Officer in USS TEXAS (SSN 775), as well as Navigator and Operations Officer on USS MISSISSIPPI (SSN 782) as it was under construction.  His awards include the Naval Commendation Medal and the Naval Achievement Medal.

Lieutenant Commander Minner came out to visit North Dakota in Fargo at the end of April where we kept him busy giving speeches and interviews.  On May 1st he spoke at the final noon luncheon of Annual Planning and Awards Conference of the North Dakota Committee for the Emplyer Support of the Guard and Reserve.  That evening he spoke to the North Dakota Council of the Navy League and made an excellent PowerPoint presentation.  The next morning he was interviewed on the Joel Heitkamp Show which is broadcast state wide, later in the morning he held a press conference, and that afternoon he was interviewed on the Jay Thomas Show on WDAY AM Radio.  He did an excellent job for us in getting the word out about NORTH DAKOTA!  He even got us a great cartoon on the editorial page of The Forum.

He is such a good guy that my only regret is that he will be relieved and reassigned in January 2013 in accordance with the normal rotation for his position and to allow him to move forward in his career.  Fortunately, our Commanding Officer Commander Doug Gordon and our COB ETMC Tim Preabt will both be able to serve on board through commissioining and NORTH DAKOTA first tour of sea duty.  We know LCDR Minner will contribute to giving NORTH DAKOTA a great foundation for its 33 years of sea duty.
