Katie Fowler, our NORTH DAKOTA sponsor, sent me this photo of seals boarding a US Navy sub. It was more of a frontal assault than it was a sneak attack!
I thought it was sort of cute!
Mary Melchoir of Bemidji, Minnesota, who with her husband CAPT Bob Melchoir was with us at the MINNESOTA christening, sent me these two links through which you can watch the entire MINNESOTA christening ceremony:
Commander Doug Gordon, NORTH DAKOTA’s Commanding Officer, via telephone conference call briefed the attendees at the 4th Quarter membership of the North Dakota Council of the Navy League of the United States last night. Our membership meeting was held in the conference room of the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. Jessica Lee of the Chamber graciously assisted us as we enjoyed a social meeting with cheese & crackers and wine. Commander Gordon told us the 3rd of the 4 supermodules that will become USS NORTH DAKOTA was delivered this past week. This 3rd supermodule is the crew habitation module. It was the backdrop for our May 11th keel laying ceremony in Quonset Point, Rhode Island. He reported the 4th and final supermodule will be delivered from Newport News, Virginia, in December, and that the hull pressure test will be completed by the end of January. By then it will be looking like a real submarine!
