“This is a great opportunity for those who cannot be with us in Groton for this historic moment in North Dakota’s history,” Wefald noted, adding, “it’s going to be a great Navy day!”

Bob: I would like to take this opportunity to send a special “Thank You” to you and your committee for arranging the trip to Groton, Conn. for the USS North Dakota SS-874 commissioning. It was a great day and everything went off as scheduled. It was an historical event that will never be repeated. I served in the U.S. Navy with (2) of my brothers aboard the USS Lindenwald LSD-6 1952-1956 at the same time; therefore this trip had a special significance. Again, our thanks for a job “Well Done” and we salute the crew of the USS North Dakota as they protect our country and stand guard on our freedom. Marlan Helgeson Grand Forks, ND 58201
